In 1999, the internet was just taking off. Taking advantage of my mathematic and computing background, www.chinesefortunecalendar.com was launched on January 28, 1999. On January 28, 2011, it will be the 12-Year Anniversary of this website. You can see the home page of Chinese Fortune Calendar in 1999 at the Internet Achieve site.
The first Internet project was the Chinese Lunar Calendar conversion. Because of the complication of the Chinese lunar leap month, I used a high precision astronomical solar and lunar database as the engine to provide a very accurate calendar conversion for different time zones and city longitudes. The database is based on the book Chinese Fortune-telling Calendar for China & USA, which I spent my years to complete and published it in 1993.
Without Chinese astrology, the Chinese Lunar Calendar is kind of useless. Luckily, my father educated me on the foundation of the Chinese Five Element astrology theory during my college years. I then used the Five Element Balance theory to create the Life Rise and Fall Chart to show people the outline of their fortune. I have received a lot of credit from visitors for this amazing application since 1999.
As a request from visitors, the Baby Gender Predictor was released next. The prediction is based on an ancient Chinese gender statistic chart according to women during their pregnancy. Today, it has become a very popular page on the Internet. After that, Chinese Farmer's Almanac, Fast Love Match and Feng Shui Flying Stars were published. Soon, www.chinesefortunecalendar.com became the most informative and free Chinese astrology site.
There were some bad times that made it difficult to maintain this website. Email viruses attacked many computers around the world. Infected computers were continuously sending email viruses to email@example.com. As the result of that, the email account was full in a couple hours and was unable to receive new emails. This happened between 2001 to 2003.
The internet bubble burst during 1999-2001, and www.chinesefortunecalendar.com had good advisement income from www.about.com. Dot-com crash busted internet business in 2002. The value of many Internet Dot-Com companies had only 10 percent left. www.chinesefortunecalendar.comreleased Fortune Angel Chinese Astrology, Chinese Farmer Calendar, and Chinese Lunar Calendar CDs to raise funds to maintain the website.
Since the Internet hosting server was not stable during 1999, we launched the www.chineseastrologyonline.com site as the backup mirror site on January 17, 2000. We also launched the www.fortuneangel.com site to release the traffic pressure for www.chinesefortunecalendar.com on January 31, 2002.
We could not keep up with the growing Internet speed. It was not until 2008 did we wrote some Facebook applications, Myspace applications, and China's myspace.cn applications. We launched the www.5d8z.com, a concise Chinese character version site of www.chinesefortunecalendar.com on January 11, 2008.
In 2011, we begin to work on iPhone and Android web applications, and will deliver more applications after the release of Fortune Angel version 8.0. Unfortunately, we don't have the schedule for true iPhone and Android applications yet.
The major project of 2011 will be the Fortune Angel Chinese astrology version 8.0. The major new features are
Years to Watch: Lists all critical years in one's entire life.
Peek that Year (In That Year): Gets a prediction from any year in the past or future.
With this, Fortune Angel Chinese astrology will become a pretty complete astrology application.
We also have created three additional add-on modules for people who are serious about learning Chinese Five Element astrology.
Fleeting Time (On That Day): Predict each Five Element daily events combining Major, Yearly and Monthly cycles.
Birth Chart to Birthday Converter: Copy birth charts in the astrology books into Fortune Angel birthday database.
Hidden Stars (Shen-Sha): This is a Chinese character module to display additional hidden stars in the birth chart for people who already know about the meaning of Hidden Stars.
